Emmitt Smith wonders why we expect so much from athletes like Cam Newton but not President Trump

In an interview with SI Now Live, Smith called the attacks “overkill” and believes that athletes are held to a higher standard than Pres. Donald Trump.

“It’s amazing we expect so much from our athletes but don’t expect the same from our president and chief,” Smith said. “These are mistakes, these are things that he may have thought was funny and someone took offense to it. Sensitivity levels are so high, for what reasons I don’t know.”

I have heard people make the comment. “I want POTUS to be the kind of guy I can sit down and have a beer with”. Never heard a fan say that about a baller.

Not only that but men that state that opinion will suffer no ill consequences for expressing them.

Politician's are strictly measured by subjective means, judgement calls. Trump is at 32% approval.

Some of those guys are thugs and they can get away with anything.

Trump is going to be a whipping boy for black America for generations to come. He's our whipping boy.

It always baffled me that athletes are held to higher standards to not only the President but the general public.
