The journalism department chair is "disappointed and disgusted" after University of North Dakota rejected his proposals for seminars that included discussion of the roles of journalists and social media covering #NoDAPL at Standing Rock.

Trahant's tweet and FB post went viral among the native community yesterday, and he posted an update on FB today. His comments must have stung enough that the university did approve some discussion of Standing Rock events to be included in lectures next Spring. Trahant, however, still plans to quit, hoping to return to real journalism instead of teaching.
