One sister recently visited and left a copy here for me with a strong recommendation to read. What a treat so far!

I'm not rushing through it because the writing itself is a joy and also provides some LOL moments. Which are much needed these days.

Apparently, it is soon to be a major TV series as well.

I never read Towles's first book "Rules of Civility" and now will certainly look to do so.

These days, with Putin's puppet infesting the WH and Russia's ongoing interference in our own elections, it is good to have some other perspectives of that fascinating country.

1. This is one of my favorite reads.

Actually it is one of my favorite listens because I heard it on Audible while traveling and was enchanted with Towles writing. He paints a magical, exciting world inside the famous old Metropol hotel in Moscow after the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. How can the plot telling the story of a man imprisoned in an old hotel be so deeply entertaining and exciting? Read it and see.

great fun to hear! I am loving the wonderful prose. I actually enjoy rereading some parts simply because they flow so seemingly effortlessly.

The sister who left the book for me has just recently written to say that she will be attending one of his lectures soon.

This one will stay with you for a long while. It sure had that effect on me. Read it over a year ago but still think of it often.

6. I absolutely loved it.

All the way through I kept on being worried that the author would have a cop-out ending. No plot spoilers, but the way it ends is wonderful and is not a cop-out at all. It's true to everything that happens leading up to it.
