10 Debut Novels That Are Masterpieces

Literary Hub 's Emily Temple lists her choices for debut novels that also happen to be their author’s masterpieces—or at least are often considered to be such. A writer must have published more than one book to be on this list—a one-hit-wonder is also a debut, but it doesn’t suit the spirit of this list. The list skews historical, because lots of stellar young writers still have their masterpieces in them—or so we hope.
I've only read two of these but this made me want to read more.

Here is the list:
Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
Native Son by Richard Wright
Speedboat by Renata Adler
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
Things Fall Apart Chinua Achebe
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
The Tin Drum by Günter Grass
Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison
