You must spend a lot of time amongst the trees. Maple leaves are simply magnificent in the fall.

We're heading toward our second winter in rural upstate NY, and the trees here are a mighty presence with and without leaves.
As the leaves drop, the view from our hillside clearing expands to include the much higher hills ringed around us and the broad valley below us, as the conifers take their solo turn.

On the other hand, I live in Kentucky. Enough said.
I moved here from Georgia, and Georgia has outstanding falls. I miss them.
