Wilson is a longtime friend of a professor (and is also visiting his 99 year old mother in the Atlanta area)
He spoke during a question and answer period after the screening:
Sidney Poitier recommended him to Brooks for the role
It was six weeks of back and forth meetings before he secured the role
Wilson did not want to present Dick as a likeable character, but he did not want the audience to forget his humanity
He remains friends with Robert Blake
Wilson thinks that Quincy Jones' score is an overlooked masterpiece. I wholeheartedly agree.

I liked Wilson as Dick, especially his accent.
