TCU receiver Josh Doctson out for season

Josh Doctson’s record-breaking season at TCU is over.

Coach Gary Patterson said Thursday on Sirius Radio that the senior receiver from Mansfield Legacy will miss the next three games and the bowl game because of the injury he suffered last week at Oklahoma State.

A defender fell on Doctson’s left hand and wrist at the end of a catch late in the second quarter.

Doctson set school records this year for touchdown catches (14), receiving yards (1,315) and receptions (78) in a season.

He also set career records for a TCU receiver for touchdown catches (29) and yards (2,773). He was on the way to the career record for catches, but will remain two shy of tying Kelly Blackwell’s record of 181.

Breathe easy, TCU fans. It appears wide receiver Josh Doctson is not out for the season.

After conducting an interview with Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson on Thursday afternoon, Sirius XM host Chris Childers sent out a tweet that said, "Gary Patterson just said star WR Josh Doctson is out for the rest of the season."

The news of Doctson's supposed status spread quickly, but Childers soon deleted his tweet and said he and others at Sirius may have misunderstood Patterson.

Soon after, ESPN's Jake Trotter and Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reached out to Patterson, who confirmed the miscommunication. On top of that, it looks like Doctson could be ready for Saturday's game against Kansas.

Unfortunately, the injury to Josh Doctson turned out to be as bad as it initially looked.

Thursday afternoon, TCU head coach Gary Patterson confirmed during a radio spot that his star wide receiver will miss the remainder of the 2015 season. The news comes a day after Doctson went to see a specialist for his injured wrist.

In the second quarter of what would end in a 49-29 loss to Oklahoma State, Doctson sustained the nasty-looking injury to his left wrist. He didn’t return to the game, and now apparently won’t return to the Horned Frogs again as the All-American is in his fifth and final season of eligibility.

I remember an old joke about the old Cox's department store in Ft. Worth.

It has something to do with a drunk mixing up buying a Searsucker suit at Cox's.
