Non-49ers fans, and even non-football fans are getting in on the action.
Colin Kaepernicks decision to protest some of the ills of society during the National Anthem has resulted in extensive discussion about a variety of issues. It has also resulted in merchandise flying off the racks. Over the weekend we wrote about how his jersey had gone from No. 20 to No. 1 in sales on the 49ers website. Darren Rovell has further details on just how much Kaepernick merchandise has sold over the past week.

This might all be a funny coincidence, but someone noticed Thursday that the Colin Kaepernick merchandise in the 49ers official store isn't on sale anymore.
Freelancer reporter Mike Rosenberg noticed that after the 49ers announced the hiring of new head coach Chip Kelly, much of the formerly discounted Kap gear was back at full price. Kaepernick gear was heavily discounted back in November when the quarterback was benched.
Kelly's hiring does seem like a good omen for Kaepernick, who fits the offensive mold that Kelly perfected at Oregon.

Good omen if Kaepernick if he hadn't deteriorated (physically and mentally) past the point of redemption.

(36,421 posts)The 49ers shopped the loser to the Eagles last year, but I guess they didn't know Kelly was already history. The 49ers (when life gives you lemons, make lemonade) did the next best thing, they hired Chip Kelley. To his credit, Kelly already knew how flawed Kaepernick is, and it looks like he plans to let him ride the bench. If Gabbert goes down, Kaepernick will play until Pounder rides in on the white horse.

(16,104 posts)While the NCAA was kicking him out, Bosworth got really ugly, and wherever OU went, anti-Boz merchandise was selling like hot cakes!
Bosworth slyly admitted his apparel contractor was making and selling the anti-Boz merchandise!
IS anything real anymore?
