Cleveland Indians land Edwin Encarnacion
Maybe this will push Cleveland over the top in their quest to end the second-longest drought in pro sports???
3 years/$60 million for Encarnacion. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1181081-report-indians-agree-to-3-year-60m-deal-with-encarnacion

2. I'm just OK with it.
Now that Cub fans have been appeased, in the grand scheme of things, it is the turn of the Cleveland Indians. Eddy was a good Blue Jay and he should make the team better. I won't cheer for them but I won't be disappointed if they win the ALCS. That said, I'm worried about the negotiating skills of the BJ front office. . |

3. Cleveland is going for broke
They won't be able to sustain this roster under free agency rules. We're witnessing several years of good drafts, trades and a few key signings coming together. It hurt losing a draft choice but this was necessary.
Had they had a healthy Michael Brantly (CF) and Carlos Carassco (SP) I think they could have beaten the Cubs. Even without them they built a 3-1 lead and nearly took Game 7. |

4. Who cares about 'sustainability' these days...
...the money to be made from one World Series championship trumps fan loyalty. . |

5. Heh ...
I think the Giants, Cardinals and Nationals have done a good pretty job of sustaining their clubs over recent years.
