He tweeted something about it's simply because our guy ...I do know he referred to Lin in the possessive...is good.

Floyd is simply stirring the pot. For a variety of reasons -- some simple, some complex -- The Champ enjoys getting a rise out of people. His "racist" statements aren't intended serious, in the same way, for example, as B-Hop's. They are merely intended to get people angry enough to purchase PPV hits in May for the Cotto fight.

As good as Cotto is, and with the significant advantage in weight he enjoys, he still has zero chance against Floyd ..... probably even less than Pacquiao would. Floyd is making an investment with these comments. Nothing more, nothing less.

So racist speech is acceptable if it is not intended to be serious? So 'I was just kidding' or 'that was just a joke' after a bigoted statement is all it takes.

What Lin being Asian is not one of the reasons for LinSanity?

Trust me---if Lin was Smith and Smith was Black---but with the same story--- there would be no errrrr sanity.

how everybody came to the defense of Rush Limbaugh when he said that McNabb was only considered a good quarterback because he was black.

but I remember researching the Knicks/Wizards game on STFC. I was going through the comments and I seen one poster say, "No Amare, no Melo." and another poster said, "But they got Jeremy Lin" I remember asking myself "Who the fuck is Jeremy Lin?" I go through the box score and saw his numbers but I told myself, "He'll regress to the mean". and skipped the game altogether. He didn't and kept playing to a level to show that NJ wasn't a fluke.

I think anyone that absolutely came out of nowhere and started setting NBA records in first 8 and continuing to play at a high level in the biggest media market, it would "LinSanity" probably except without the puns. This is where IMO the hype comes from, how often does this sort of thing ever happen? I remember Maddox for the Steelers or Flutie with the Bills were big stories for similar situations but this is more surprising. I think possibly him as the first Asian-American since the 40's has something to do with it but it is a very small part IMO.

have a point...if the kid was black, from Harvard, not drafted, sleeping on his brother's couch...and THEN the media ignroed it, you'd have a point.

commenting on if such speech is acceptable or unacceptable.

Heath Ledger played a mighty bad villian on a Bat Man flick. The role he played helped sell tickets. That's how theater works. In saying this, I am not saying it is acceptable to ram a pencil into another human being's skull.
