Just an awesome day for golf.....Justin gave it his all and came in third....Rickie Fowler, slow and steady as he goes....came in second. AWESOME shots. Just a great day. Tiger really even came back to play today.....a 69 score for today, a good day for him. And I know golf a rich mans game.....but you can play on your city courses and become great.....

(65,030 posts)I play a lot. I'm 61 so my basketball days are WAY in the rear view mirror. (Plus, i've a mild form of MS for the last 21 years, so jumping, not so much anymore.)
The joint i play is $1,100 a year INCLUDING THE CART. All the golf i can play. So, i get in 80 rounds and i'm paying $13.75 a round. Last year with the weirdly warm February and March, i played 96 rounds. So last year, i was essentially paying $11.45 a round. At $28 dollars on weekdays and $30 on weekends, i basically played 55 rounds for free.
Now, even there, if one only plays 15 times a year, then it would be better to just pay as you go. But still, you'd be looking at $450 from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends.
Might be an unnecessary expense for some people, and excessive depending upon income, but still pretty affordable.
Now, the 3 country clubs within easy driving distance of my house are $3,500, $4,800 and $6k plus the monthly required spending. Now we're talking serious money.
