Puig was suspended for three games. Like the five other suspended players, he has chosen to appeal and is set to make his Cleveland debut on Thursday night against the Astros, batting cleanup and playing right field.
In addition to Puig, suspensions were handed down to Pirates pitcher Keone Kela (10 games), Reds pitcher Amir Garrett (eight games), Pirates infielder José Osuna (five games), Reds pitcher Jared Hughes (three games) and Pirates pitcher Kyle Crick (three games). Each will be able to continue playing until the appeal process is completed.
