It was, and is, a professional spring football league. It initially did pretty well in its first iteration in the 1980s, until Trump, as owner of the New Jersey Generals, convinced them to switch to fall play, and sue the NFL for antitrust violations to finance the switch. Instead of a billion dollars, which Trump predicted, they won one dollar.

On the bright side, they got treble damages, so it was actually a three dollar judgment. They folded right after, and Trump didn’t get an NFL franchise, which was his ultimate goal.

Another of TFG's failed businesses involving lawsuits. So why is it on two networks? I can see why FOX but why NBC?

but that was because CBS had the NFL games, and NBC had the AFL. It’s hard to believe a network wouldn’t want an exclusive deal.
