Any good rust stopper/conveter suggestions?

We have a small patch of body rust on our Honda CR-V.
I'm looking for a rust stop treatment.
This looks promising but I'm open to ideas.

1. I've never had much luck with rust converters.

They all seem to give you a paintable surface, but after a few months the rust breaks through again. The only permanent fix I’ve ever managed is to cut out the rust and patch it with metal or polyester/epoxy. If you don’t weld, epoxy is the next best thing, but it costs more than polyester.

Or you could replace the whole panel with one from a junkyard. They often even have one that matches your existing paint.

It's a 2002 with almost 200K on it. The spot is at the driver's side upper corner at the windshield. I was quoted $1,200 for a new gallery and windshield install (It's cracked) and the spot fix. While tempting I don't want to spend that much.
I don't have a cutter or a welder.

I guess I'm just looking to buy some time.

2. I bought some at Tractor Suppy last

that worke great. Some thing like “Rust Buster”.
Then today I was reading about some paint strippers are being taken off the shelf’s for being very dangerous. Might want to check that out first.

4. Rust Mort if you plan on priming and painting.

restorers use this and product like POR-15 and Eastwood products. I've used both on my old cars.
Rustoleum also makes a rust converter, I used it on an old rusty snowblower and then painted it actually held up quite well. I ground down all the scale first before applying it.

5. Cortec CorrVerter Rust Primer by Cortec Corp. Had good results on rusted steel and even

galvanized sheet metal.

PlastiKote Rust Converter is good also. Once applied, it turns into a hard flat black paintable surface.
