The Chicago Cubs' Joe Maddon will be only the second Cubs manager at the helm of an All Star Game

Charlie Grimm in 1946 is the only other.

As disappointing as 2017 has been, I am looking forward to tonight. Glad the stupid home field advantage for the World Series is gone!

lead the All Star Game the next year? I know Connie Mack and (retired) John McGraw managed the 1933 game. However, the Cubs won the pennant in 1935 and 1938. Who managed the National League teams in 1936 and 1939?

Charlie Grimm managed in 1936 and Gabby Hartnett in 1939. So Madden will be the fourth (or third depending on how you look at it) Cubs manager at an All Star Game.
