Sergio Romo beaten by Rockies in 9th

DENVER -- The Rockies are for real. Just ask the Giants.

"I expect them to be there the whole year," Madison Bumgarner said, "so it's going to be a battle between ... everyone."

The top two teams in the National League West opened a three-game series Tuesday night, and the Giants were one pitch from a 4-3 victory. However, the pitch from Sergio Romo was a slider up, and Nolan Arenado smashed it for a two-run double and 5-4 Rockies victory.

Tyler Colvin doubled home a run in the top of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie, and Romo was summoned for the save. But he walked his first batter, Justin Morneau, and surrendered a two-out single to Carlos Gonzalez. Arenado pulled Romo's 2-2 pitch to deep left field to score both runners.

Romo didn't make himself available to the media after the game.
