4. They also pant in this sweltering heat. I had to change the feeders twice today.

5. So did I. And I poured cold water over them a couple of times too

I thought the adult male ruby-throat had gone. But I just saw him a minute ago,so they haven’t taken off yet. The feeders on the windowsill are in the shade in the afternoon so that helps

6. It seems our male with the largest gorget moved on several days ago ...

a slimmer male with a narrower gorget is still here, and now another slimmer male traveler has arrived. Tomorrow is expected to be hotter, so I'm making a double batch of nectar now and refrigerating it for tomorrow. Have a misting sprayer going for all the birds too.
