They also pant in this sweltering heat. I had to change the feeders twice today.

Wash out your hummingbird feeders frequently.

I thought the adult male ruby-throat had gone. But I just saw him a minute ago,so they havent taken off yet. The feeders on the windowsill are in the shade in the afternoon so that helps

a slimmer male with a narrower gorget is still here, and now another slimmer male traveler has arrived. Tomorrow is expected to be hotter, so I'm making a double batch of nectar now and refrigerating it for tomorrow. Have a misting sprayer going for all the birds too.
