They don't stay all day, and I don't mind them hogging the food because to me it means there's more food for the hawks and they can never deplete the starling population. I love hawks and want them to live, but not at the expense of our gorgeous bluejays, starlings, peckers, etc....

In Florida, and down south there are so many gorgeous colorful birds, but here in Michigan, the only permanent gorgeous birds we have are the blue jays and cardinals. Oh, and we have Cooper's Hawks. Whenever there are no birds at the feeders for hours, we know the hawks are high in the trees, just waiting....Sometimes they land and sit on the platform feeders. Awesome...

but the Downy, House Finches, Chickadees, Juncoes, and an occasional Tufted Titmouse seem to like what I am offering.
