(5,754 posts)and we cut out paper outlines of the bird smashes. When they didn't wash the windows for at least 5 years, it stopped.

(11,265 posts)Animals don't have out ability of abstraction. They rarely can look at something in 2-D and recognize it as the 3-D object. And since these aren't moving, they probably don't really recognize it as a "bird in flight". It's just a "black spot on a window".

(3,818 posts)had a good article about this a few years back. There is a company in Germany that makes special non-reflective glass to stop bird strikes. Hopefully more manufacturers will start producing it.
