(23,692 posts)due to the unreal aspect of his tail ... that bird is a subject in chapters of Richard Dawkin's The Blind Watchmaker due to adaptation of the length of the tail, in both sexual preferences and survival itself ... the female's preference for long tailed males, and the tail potentially a hazard to the males survival ...

The most unreal bird I've seen this year was on my trip to southwest Florida. When I first saw these circling over the beach, I felt like I'd stepped into the movie, Fantasia.
