The Culprit!

For the past few weeks both the driver and passenger doors of my Hyundai have been covered in a copious amount of tiny bird poop. I finally caught the culprit red-handed.

A pair of Blue Wrens (superb fairywren - Malurus cyaneus) live in the carpark at Wreck Beach. As soon as I park the male is straight on to the car door and spends the next couple of hours dancing around and admiring himself in the wing mirrors.

He becomes quite angry and agitated when the dogs and I return, and doesn't fly away - the pair of tiny birds jump from bush to bush twittering angrily.

Not fantastic photos, they move so fast.....

That's Mrs. Blue Wren, bottom right.

Down the road at a different beach entrance, there is also a pair living in the car park. Maybe they're attracted by the car mirrors.

all the mirrors on the farm equipment and our cars to keep the crazy birds from attacking or trying to mate with their reflections.
Put a bag over the mirrors, of course of course it is a pain to have to remove them each time you use the car.

... perch on the side mirrors of my mother's car. He would see the other bird in the mirror and jump around to the back of the mirror, then jump back to the front again. He would do this over and over, and even change from one side mirror to the other.

Mother sold her car, so I haven't seen him back. It was nice to have a regular visitor.
