1. These are such fun birds to watch!

They have such clown like antics; dancing, hopping, flapping around while they are actually hunting. The way they act scares small fish into motion so the bird can find them. Great white egrets on the other hand stalk slowly with their heads held high for a good view until they find prey and slowly draw their necks into a coiled S as the make the last few feet to be within reach. Snowy egrets just run around seemingly randomly striking at whatever they find.

As a wildlife photographer one has to know when something's about to happen before it happens--awfully difficult with reddish and snowy egrets!

We have heron and egrets around here but I’ve never seen one of those. Interesting the beak is half black.

4. Seems in the U.S. they're mainly found in the Gulf Coast, and Florida Keys ...

In the U.S., look for Reddish Egrets on the Gulf Coast, particularly South Texas, or in the Florida Keys. Pull up to an inlet or salt flat at low tide and watch for an animated heron with a two-toned bill; or visit (at a respectful distance) colonies on mangrove islands, where the birds often nest with pelicans, other herons, and spoonbills. As they are often seen at a distance, a spotting scope is helpful for viewing these entertaining birds in detail.
