A mama cardinal decided to build her nest right under my kitchen window.

I just saw it there for the first time today. It’s in the Yew bush under my kitchen window.

I’d like to take a picture of it but can’t quite get a good angle from inside the house, and I’m afraid if I go outside, I’ll scare her away.

The good thing is that Sophie (my yellow Lab) doesn’t seem to know it’s there, and there don’t seem to be any cats around here that might bother it. She’s sorta hidden in the bush.

Something to keep an eye on, I guess!

On edit: I quickly snuck outside when Mama bird took a break and got this quick shot.

We have a window like that. I like watching the bees come for their morning sips from tree blossoms CTyankee May 2022 #1

I’m doing some research now, and I’m reading that cardinals build their nests closer to the ground, not up high in tall trees.

I’ve heard that when a cardinal visits, it represents a loved one who has passed away.

But I need all the luck I can get, too!

Many people believe the sighting of a cardinal can be a sign of good luck, loyalty, or even a spiritual message. Native American lore states if a cardinal is seen, it is believed that individual will have good luck within 12 days of the sighting.
