Female hummingbird. Yesterday

After almost 2 weeks of not seeing any, she showed up yesterday and visited dozens of times. Haven’t seen her yet this morning, was very glad she’s back. I guess she must have found a place to nest

And, boy, do we need these uplifting sights these days!

I am keeping an eye on a nest in a bush right under my kitchen window. A Cardinal laid her eggs there and now I see 2 little chicks with their mouths open wide. Both mom and dad Cardinal feed the chicks. It’s such a pleasant distraction from the ugly news headlines. Gives me hope that there’s still something precious and beautiful going on.

I have seen the daddy cardinal in the tree feeding two juveniles. They were driving him crazy. It was a good show. Responsible dad. I was going to post a hummingbird picture yesterday, I was so happy to see her, and then the fucking shooting happened and I didn’t feel so joyous. But you’re right ithis what we need. So many horrible things happen that I know I can’t do anything about
