Seahawks release Doug Baldwin...

https://www.seahawks.com/news/seahawks-part-ways-with-safety-kam-chancellor-receiver-doug-baldwin

Was a quiet, steady presence on the team since 2011. Hate to see him go, but he has been battling injuries lately. He and the team have been in discussions over the last few months, and it looks like this is an amicable split.

He's the 2d best WR in team history. Not sure about stats, but as far as accomplishments, he's right up there with Largent.

He's also been very active in the local version of the Black Lives Matter issue, and has had many discussions with local LEOs and politicians on that front. His dad was a cop, so he sees both sides of that.

It's a shame about his injuries piling up. He's turning 31 this season. He would have a few more seasons ahead of him if he were relatively healthy.

he keeps a low profile, especially on off the field subjects. He apparently did some ride-alongs during the process.

Yeah, we were all hoping he could come back, but he's got a knee problem that is looking chronic now, and he just had shoulder surgery and a procedure for a sports hernia. This has been brewing, and the team drafted 3 WR last week, so it's a bit of a shock if not unexpected.

Currently Ed Dickson, Will Dissly (coming of injury, status not completely clear for this year), and Nick Vannett, with a couple of guys in for camp that I don't remember other than Tyrone Swoopes, a young guy that I don't think has played much.

We had Jimmy Graham in here a couple of years ago, but he didn't fit our system well. He put up some numbers, of course, but also missed some time to injury.

Two Ls, we called him.

Played here a few years, was actually sorry to see him go. Thought he had some promise.

We also had two receivers, Lockett and Lockette. No-E is still here.

of Boom get broken up. I enjoyed watching them, and of course Wilson and Beast Mode. Quite a team that was.

Yeah, I'm a local. We all miss Beast Mode, though we were a little disappointed he "un-retired." But Oakland was his home town team, so we cut him some slack on that. They're working on LoB v2.0 now. Got some hitters in the draft this year.

from way back and was glad that Beast Mode un-retired with us. But our frustration continued as you probably know with Gruden trading Mack and Cooper. Just more misery for us.

We did have a respectable draft, plus we got Antonio Brown from the Steelers. Thing is, even though I live in Vegas now I wish they had stayed in Oakland—a tough town where they were born. I used to live there. We'll see what happens with the move.

Good luck with your season.

used to be, the NFL tried to keep all the gambling interests at arms length.

Times change, I guess.
