George Will: ‘I’m an amiable, low voltage atheist’

9:10 PM 05/03/2014

Legendary conservative columnist George Will says he is an atheist.

Will explained his religious views — or lack thereof — during an extensive interview with The Daily Caller on politics, culture and his new book, “A Nice Little Place on the North Side: Wrigley Field at One Hundred.” TheDC will be featuring segments from the interview over the next several weeks.

“I am not religious at all,” Will interjected, when The Daily Caller said it heard he wasn’t particularly religious.

TheDC brought up its previous interview Charles Krauthammer, in which the other conservative Washington Post columnist said, “I don’t believe in God, but I fear him.”

If you can stomach that link, there's a short video of conservatives discussing Krauthammer, Hitchens, Jefferson and atheism.

Well, isn't that a politically correct position to take, Mr. Will. cbayer May 2014 #2

He prepped Ronald Reagan for debate using a stolen briefing book. Repeat--a stolen briefing book. One more time: a stolen briefing book.

He denies it, but everybody--including Jimmy Carter--knows better.

I can't stomach him.

Wish I could watch the video, but it's a no-go.

We were just discussing Hitchens in the A&A forum. As an Atheist, I find his particular brand of Atheism a little hard to stomach.

“If you’re actually certain that you’re hitting only a concentration of enemy troops…then it’s pretty good because those steel pellets will go straight through somebody and out the other side and through somebody else. And if they’re bearing a Koran over their heart, it’ll go straight through that, too. So they won’t be able to say, “Ah, I was bearing a Koran over my heart and guess what, the missile stopped halfway through.” No way, ’cause it’ll go straight through that as well. They’ll be dead, in other words.”

It's out of proportion to his usual negativity towards religion in general.

It source seems to be something else.
