Christ had one main message. Take care of the poor.
Republicans want to exploit the poor for the benefit of the wealthy and powerful.
No Democratic Politician has the balls to say it.
There, I said it.
Republican = Not Christian
You can babble about Jeezuz all you want, but if you are voting for Republicans, you are working against everything he taught.
Period.

(13,029 posts)And Jeebus had a lot of messages, and your declaration that helping the poor is the "one main message" is also cherry-picked nonsense. Jeebus did not even found Xstianity or say what they qualifications for it were in any case. And no one follows every one of his dictates, so by your logic, NO ONE is a True Christian.

(1,242 posts)"Jesus never said to use the government to take care of the poor" which is wrong on several levels:
1. The Hebrew Bible has multiple laws meant to take care of the poor, so ancient Jewish people did have a concept of government aid to the needy.
2. That doesn't seem to stop Republicans when they want to use the government to enforce their religion on others.

If you are not helping the poor, you are not serving Jesus.

Republicans can be Christians, and I am a Democrat.
Of course, I am not Christian, so I don't try to shoehorn all Christians into something good and wonderful. There are good Republicans, I know some. There are Christian Republicans. I know some.
There are many faith based assholes who are Republicans. It varies form individual to individual.

(9,116 posts)We've heard it all before. No one who has ever done anything bad has ever been a "real" Christian.
