Vatican is not a 'den of thieves,' says top Vatican official

Last edited Sun Jan 17, 2016, 10:17 AM - Edit history (1)

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Vatican is not "a den of thieves," and such insinuations are an injustice to employees who are proud to serve the pope and the church, said Archbishop Angelo Becciu, a top official in the Vatican Secretariat of State.
Necessary economic and administrative reforms and countermeasures have been taken to address any problems, he told the Italian weekly Panorama in an interview published in the issue dated Jan. 20.
"I must reiterate firmly that we are not a bunch of corrupt and incompetent people," he said in a lengthy interview conducted at the Vatican Dec. 31.

Nixon Rule: when you hold a press conference to deny that you're a crook, you're a crook.

On Edit: of course thievery is the least of the criminal problems in the RCC, and pales in comparison to their ongoing problems with sexual abuse of children.

The UN has accused the Vatican of "systematically" adopting policies allowing priests to sexually abuse thousands of children.
Pope Francis has said that dealing with abuse is vital for the Church's credibility, and that "sanctions" must be imposed against perpetrators.
But the Church has been accused of failing to address some allegations properly.

they have not paid the price they should. PR Frank should not let us forget what they did.
They should always be referred to as The Vatican (the pedophile enabling organization).

Do you deny that they moved child predators from parish to parish?

Do you deny that they've paid tens of millions of dollars because of their actions, or lack thereof, relating to their child-raping priests?

Start a thread on it. I'm sure you"ll have lots of takers.

Just keep your facts straight and try not to post broadbrush bigotry and you'll do just fine.

Tell you what. Start a thread. In it establish the RCC is in fact a criminal organization and demand that Catholics explain why they are Catholics. Let's see what happens.

Yes, you really sound sad, warren.

Good luck in your next attempt. Maybe your Vatican gay lobby thread will get some traction. I bet if you really, really tried you cound find a positive story about the Catholic Church. Of course, then you wouldn't be able to use it to make another ant-Catholic snark.

Though I take some issue with Catholic dogma and tradition, I can understand Catholics feeling attached to it. What I don't get is the stubborn defense of the institution of the Catholic Church. It's almost as pathetic as devotion to a sports team.

Surrounding that hatred with half-truths, inaccuracies and straw men makes the display utterly repellent.

No need at all to point out how often that sludge flows directly onto Catholics themselves.
