Organized atheists are set to invade D.C. this weekend, holding a 'Reason Rally.' The reason they are rallying is their professed belief in nothingness," Donohue wrote about the event.
CNN reports that speakers at the rally are expected to include Bill Nye, Lewis Black and members of the Wu-Tang Clan, which will also feature musical guests and entertainment late into the night.
"We want to see reason taking precedence over religious-driven ideology," said the rally's Executive Director Lyz Liddell.
Looks like the Reason Rally is pissing off all the right assholes! Ken Ham, Ray Comfort, and now Bigoted Bill Donohue.

(12,754 posts)It's really just this Donohue blowhard, and for some reason, the media treat him as if he had any kind of standing.
It's the same as if I named myself president of the Democratic League and got myself put on all the talk shows.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York
The Catholic League has the courage to speak up candidly and forcefully for the Church when circumstances call for fighting the good fight. The League should be on every Catholics short list of essential organizations to support.

I am privileged to support the Catholic League. The work of the Catholic League is invaluable and its accomplishments over the years are unparalleled.
Cardinal Edwin OBrien
Pro-Grand Master of the Equestrian Order (Knights) of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem
The Catholic League has done much to ensure that the Churchs positions are presented clearly and fairly. Too often those who do not understand the Church or Her teachings are the interpreters of the doctrines and events in the life of the Church. The work of the League is important in the mission of the Church which must teach the hard truths of the Gospel in season and out of season.
Seán Cardinal OMalley, O.F.M. Cap.
Archbishop of Boston
We are seeing the most violent attack on the Catholic Church in the media and public life since the days of the Ku Klux Klan. Every serious and committed Catholic needs to know what is going on and what to do about it. I consider membership in the Catholic League a must.

As for the "faithful" he cares about them as much as the Church leaders do, which is minimally.

His beliefs fall right in line with the Vatican, that's why they support him.

(14,173 posts)and he's probably also to the left of Dr. Donohue on gay rights as he has indicated a willingness to look at civil union at least.
He probably also shared Pope John Paul II's abhorrence of the Iraq War and all unnecessary wars of aggression.

You could have discovered all of this with a thirty second Google search (assuming you didn't already know it), but instead chose to perpetuate the apologist lie that the "Catholic League" is just Bill Donohue and a fax machine somewhere. Why is that?
