It turns out theres another atheist in the New Hampshire State House! A preachers kid who eventually left the faith! And hes a Republican! (That makes two in the NH House!)
The downside and this story only gets more disappointing from this point forward is that State Rep. Robert Fisher also appears to be the creator of The Red Pill, the subreddit known as a haven for misogynistic men who think women have all the power, who think feminism is a dirty word, and who trade pickup-artist (PUA) techniques with each other (because they despise women
but they want women).
The Daily Beasts Bonnie Bacarisse did some incredible detective work to make the connection and her piece is worth reading in full.
Her conclusion is that Fisher, who goes by the username Pk_atheist (preacher kid atheist), is the creator of that subreddit.

(4,261 posts)He's a "Grade A" maggot that's for sure and I would not support him in his endeavours and would like to hinder him if I could.
As an atheist he doesn't represent me, nor do I belong to any organization that houses him, therefore I can't be held responsible for abetting him.
I don't have to defend atheism because he exists as an atheist. I have never claimed that being an atheist makes you a better, more moral person.
Eh... just another part of God's ineffable plan I suppose.

(82,333 posts)Why should anyone who identifies with a group be required to defend the actions of another member of that group?
It's a very simple concept.
Why you feel a need to divert to "God's ineffable plan" eludes me.
This guy, and those like him, deserve to be kept in the spotlight.

(4,261 posts)Perhaps I should make it clear, those that support groups or organisations that try to hide the actions and identities of those that hurt others in these and other more sickening ways must share some of the responsibility for their actions.
It is not uncommon, when religious folk are brought out from under their rock into the spotlight of this group, comments to the effect that we never see atheists dragged here, are used to try and deflect from that message.
My bitterness about the Mysterious Ways and Ineffable Plans which include such actions was responsible for that last snark, for which I apologise.
