Good news: Trumps evangelical support is slipping

From the article:

However, the major religious shift in his approval ratings has occurred among non-evangelical Christians, Protestant and Catholic. In March, they approved of Trump’s performance 58 percent to 40 percent. Now, they disapprove of it 56 percent to 40 percent.

In March, evangelicals approved of the job Donald Trump was doing 63 percent to 32 percent, according to a Politico/Daily Caller survey. Five months later, the margin has shrunk by more than half, to 56-42.

I wonder if it will produce the desired result.

Since Trump lies a lot, and Satan is the "father of lies."

Possibly Maher, said to be an atheist, was borrowing from our own DU conversation on this earlier.

Unless their support for Republicans in general is slipping, it doesn't matter too much what they think of trump, sadly.

but his policies aren't. He's even making the rest of them look better in comparison.

This, of course, will lead to trumper pandering to the evangelicals in new and exciting ways.

And I feel it is a repudiation of Trump's tactics rather than any repudiation of goals.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/172442/muslims-approving-obama-mormons-least.aspx

Gallup, in 2014, had Catholic approval of Obama at 44%, Protestant/Other Christian 37% - whole country 43%. This ( http://www.politico.com/f/?id=0000015d-c4ae-d494-a77f-e6be72bd0000 ) has Trump at Catholic 44%,Protestant 49%, whole country 40%.

Never let it be said that American Protestants are keen judges of character.

And it isn't likely to happen any time soon. Preacher is pretty much free to convey his opinions about political figures to the congregation. If he believes Obama is an agent of Satan, he can preach that. If he believes Trump is God's own president and savior of American Christianity, he can preach that too. No one is going to stop him.
