Related: About this forumThe Michigan town where only Christians are allowed to buy houses
What started out as a modest camping ground for Methodist families 140 years ago has quietly developed into a stunning vacation spot for people who can afford the upkeep of a second home. Streets named Moss, Fern and Maple are dotted with impeccably maintained century-old gingerbread cottages. Over the horizon, residents can watch lifelong friends sail their boats across the water.
But this paradise is not open to all.
In Bay View, only practicing Christians are allowed to buy houses, or even inherit them.

(38,489 posts)aforementioned "practicing Christians." Of course. The only thing they're practicing is being authoritarian assholes. Most physicians actually do "practice," of course.

(9,116 posts)...is only one definition of the word "practice". Another definition "is the application of an idea or a method". When people talk about practicing medicine or practicing Christianity, or how things "work in practice", they're talking about that second definition, not the first.

(38,489 posts)Especially if you "practice by doing." Either way, the idea is to get it right. That's my "fundamental" problem with the term "practicing Christians." They're doing it wrong, on purpose, and that's not practicing Christianity. That's practicing Hannity.
