(31,109 posts)My question was answered and evidently there was NO one person attributable to the "stories" that later Paul or John then created their "stories" about.
Weird way for this to work but I suspect it applies to all history to some extent.
What about Mohammad, I wonder how that story came down?
Doesnt matter.

(12,344 posts)Because a lot of it was transcribed while Mohammed was still alive. So Mohammed would be the one. Even so, they wrote it down on scraps of paper or whatever, and some was just memorized, so there is still some question as to what is authentic or not. The bigger issue is whether you believe Mohammed actually spoke to God. He didn't even pretend to do miracles or make prophecies.

(1,896 posts)For example, there's a group out there which practices ritual cannibalism. The body of their voluntary human sacrifice was last seen by the high priests of the cannibal sect. They've spent a couple of thousand years fantasizing about leftovers, and one of their great mysteries is what happened to the human sacrifice's body. Apparently it just disappeared somehow. Magically.
The flying horse thing seems pretty tame by comparison.

Mohammed also didnt bother writing anything down. So the Koran and the Hadith are texts that settled into their current form(s) centuries after his life.
