Former Vatican official says Pope knew about meeting with Kim Davis

The archbishop who accused Pope Francis of mishandling sexual misconduct allegations against a top American archbishop unveiled a new charge on Saturday: that Vatican officials -- and perhaps the Pope himself -- have told untruths about the pontiff's controversial meeting in 2015 with Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who refused to sign same-sex marriage certificates.

In a letter published Saturday on LifeSiteNews.com, a conservative Catholic website, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, the former Vatican ambassador to the United States, said that several high-ranking church officials, including the Pope, knew in advance of the meeting and the controversy that could ensue if it became public.

When both sides have built careers on lying, who do you believe? At a minimum, grab some popcorn.

It's very plausible he's lying. He really seems like a treacherous guttersnipe. Pope George Ringo II Sep 2018 #2
But for Vigano it's a twofer. Igel Sep 2018 #3
Does that explain the look on his face in the pic? czarjak Sep 2018 #4

Then again, Bergoglio isn't exactly the poster-child for integrity either.

He gets to be all pious, when he had to have been involved in some cover ups. So he's signaling his repentance to those that matter. We may think that's "the media," but screw that. Others might think, "the parishioners." Yeah, they're important but not nearly as important as what happens when the 81-year-old current pope buys it.

At the same time, not only does he show his true repentance and lay claims to being innocent, or at least virtuous, in the face of the biggest scandal to strike the church in the west over the course of the last 50 years, he also makes it more likely that the pope will become an ex-pope. And, until he does become an ex, he'll have a harder time making any of the change Vigano doesn't like.
