A question for Christians: What would you do if you suddenly ran into Jesus Christ?

Scenario:

You meet a person who claims to be Jesus Christ. You put this person to the test whether it really is Jesus Christ and it passes every single one of your tests.

Jesus Christ asks you to get rid of your material possessions and your established life and to join him on the road and to become one of his disciples.

Would you do it?

Would you give up everything you have to become one of Jesus Christ's disciples?

so much antithetic to the message has been allowed to continue and thrive sans a return or any apparent intervention?

I don't mean to be disrespectful about the premise, but....?

Religion has been used to defend "American" culture and ideals from the beginning. WWJD is just a slogan. My all time leading example is hate the sin, love the sinner. Where did Jesus talk about that? Jesus said judge not lest yes be judged. He said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Yet Christians justify their sins, think adultry, and judge others for their supposed sins.

Jesus himself claimed Jewish law was absolute, which most certainly included judgement and punishment for a full range of offenses, including adultery. Hard to reconcile that with claiming judgement is a mortal sin.

I saw Elvis. I stopped for gas in a small town in Montana. He was sitting outside, eating a pop. Funny- he was eating the pop, stick and all -- ate the entire stick.

He looks like shit but then, again, he's pushin' 90.

Said, he was here because he got tired of kissin' some major, or some general's ass.... also tired of payin' alimony for a one night stand.

Can't say as I blame 'im.

I asked for his autograph so's I could prove to yiz that I saw him but he says he got arthritis and don't write 'nuthing more anymore. -- still has that southern drawl.

I told him, I was pissed as I had tickets to take my squeeze to his concert in Nassau Colosseum in N.Y. and he bailed on the concert.

He apologized and hummed a bit of Love Me, Tender --- wish Suzy could'a heard it. She loved Elvis. But still, even his speakin' voice don't sound too good, now.

Cell phone battery was shot so I couldn't get no pictures either. When I went back, he was gone. Clerk inside stopped selling lottery tickets and said he came around once in a while. He lives in a shack, somewhere on the base of that mountain.

Oh, anyway, back to the topic. When Jesus does come.... he's been cumin for 2,000 years---(Suzy is jealous of Mary Mags)...

Yiz are just gonna not believe its him and treat him the same way yer gonna post about how this post is bullshit.

Well, ye of little faith, which of us is gonna reach the pearly gates and wear the starry crown?

Of course I would love to be self-serving and say "Absolutely!!" but if I'm honest with myself, I would concede that there would always be some doubt in my mind as to whether this person REALLY was Jesus.

Had I been fooled (fooled myself?) in to believing this was Jesus because I WANTED to believe that this was Jesus...because I wanted solid proof of my faith?

And even if I was convinced, would I really want to give up my comfortable life? My wife? My children? Family and friends?

In theory, as a Christian I'm supposed to always put Christ first...but in this regard, I know that I fail. I imagine that I only do this when it is easy for me to do so, but how would I react if I was put in a situation where I really had to put Christ first?

I honestly don't know.

Once again - thank you for posting this question. As a person of faith, I think that it is always good to reflect on what I believe, why I believe it, and how I put that belief in to action.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity for discussion!

Wishing you well and peace

Tim

I'd probably Tell him to watch where he's walking. Really, though, since I do watch where I'm walking, I wouldn't run into him. I'd move over and walk on. If he was looking at me, I'd nod a hello as I walked by.

So, I wouldn't know who he was, really, and I normally don't talk much to strangers when I'm walking.

It assumes that this is what happened before.

Meanwhile, if somebody's out preaching like that, he'd have a track record known to the "strangers" that he approached and asked. You'd assume that he'd have some familiarity with those he asked, as well.

They'd have gone like anybody would go with an itinerant preacher--because of what he said and what he'd done, not because of gossip.

None. I'd ask him why he let evangelists use him to spread hate.

If I ran into a unicorn, well, it would depend on who had the right of way.
