Sen. Marco Rubio discusses his religion on 'CBS Sunday Morning'

5:58 a.m. EST, June 17, 2012|By Hal Boedeker, Staff writer

Sen. Marco Rubio, the Florida Republican often mentioned as a vice-presidential prospect, talks to "CBS Sunday Morning" this weekend.

CBS' Norah O'Donnell asks if Rubio is being vetted as Mitt Romney's running mate.

Rubio also explains his religious history: He grew up Catholic, then became affiliated with the Mormon Church for three years, but later returned to Catholicism. Now he attends a Catholic Mass and a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

"We go to Mass every Sunday and we also go to Christ Fellowship quite regularly," he tells O'Donnell. "We go to both. And again, I'm a Roman Catholic."

My impression is he only goes to the Baptist church to appeal to the tea baggers. nt auburngrad82 Jun 2012 #1

That's quite broadminded of him, belonging to two churches that hate and despise each other. dimbear Jun 2012 #3

He believes in myths, unworkable economic theories, and an idealized version of American government that doesn't and cannot exist.
He believes that he is somehow enlightened.
He believes in fairy tales.

There must be a lot of room in his head.
