Catholics worldwide will remain on tenterhooks for as much as another month, as the Vatican is allowed a month for comment. I had hoped we would have good news on this front, as the spunky little institution tries to walk off the pain and get back in the game. Needless to say, rumors are flying in both directions.

Vatican receives score of 9 out of 16. That's a gentlemanly score in most any playbook, and indicates that with effort they can succeed in time, if they care to. It's comparable to the scores first earned by other beginners at the game. Such as Italy itself.
