Florence, KY, January 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The National Atheist Party Announces Partnership With Black Nonbelievers, Inc.
The National Atheist Party and Black Nonbelievers have partnered together to advance their parallel goals of advocating on the behalf of atheists and nonbelievers nationwide. This showing of mutual support was met with great excitement from the members of both parties.
"The National Atheist Party is proud to announce our partnership with Black Nonbelievers. We are very excited and pleased to expand our outreach into diverse communities, and this partnership is a welcome step in that direction," said Troy Boyle, President of the National Atheist Party.
Black Nonbelievers is an Atlanta-based non-profit dedicated to living free of religion and irrational beliefs, and acts as a social network for atheist African Americans. The organization was founded by Mandisa Lateefah Thomas and Felicia Smith, in the hopes of creating a caring and meaningful environment for their fellow atheists in the Atlanta area. Ms. Thomas announced that "Black Nonbelievers, Inc. is proud to be affiliated with the National Atheist Party. We are confident that our collaborative efforts will result in long term progress in bringing out more openly outspoken atheists/nonbelievers - especially in the black community. Our voices need to be heard so that our rights will not be denied."

(82,333 posts)Looks like the NAP is seriously trying to organize although I don't see it ever gaining traction. American history has not been kind to one issue parties.
Still, if it ever got on a ballot it might pose a dilemma.

Contrary to the suppositions of many believers, most non-believers do not organize around their non-belief; it usually comes in the form of a response to the actions or behaviors of believers. Atheism really only exists as a response to theism. Were believers to stop trampling on the rights of those that do not share their beliefs, were they to stop producing legislation that does the same, were they to stop accusing those that do not share their beliefs of being inferior, less moral, and depraved, it is likely that atheism, as a movement, would simply wither away.

(82,333 posts)The National Atheist Party is a Constitutional movement dedicated to the preservation of the Founding Fathers vision of a secular nation. We are a progressive secular political organization whose current incarnation is as a non-profit 527 political organization. As we grow and evolve, we intend and expect to develop into a full-fledged political party. We are assembled for two important reasons: to give a political voice to U.S. atheists, who have never enjoyed political representation before; and to stand athwart those elements and groups that would seek to undermine the secular foundations of this great country.

Every human endeavor is a response to something. Sooner or later that response becomes organized.

(19,705 posts)The NAP exists as a Facebook page, with some fellow Facebookers "like"-ing it. That also have a web page.
That a political party does not make. They will fade away in short order, for the reasons already listed. That is my prediction, anyway. YMMV.
