Archbishop of San Francisco: Delaware marriage equality ‘a serious injustice’ to kids

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/05/09/archbishop-of-san-francisco-delaware-marriage-equality-a-serious-injustice-to-kids/

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco sharply criticized the state of Delaware on Wednesday, saying the state’s new marriage equality law would harm children.

“The claim of this bill to redefine marriage is in vain; marriage cannot be redefined, because its unique meaning lies in our very nature. It is also a serious injustice to the most vulnerable among us: children,” Cordileone, the chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage, said.

He also said Rhode Island’s new same-sex marriage law was “a serious injustice” last Friday.

Delaware on Tuesday became the eleventh state to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry. Same-sex couples in Delaware will be able to officially tie the knot starting on July 1.

the more the pope changes, the more the RCC stays exactly the same.

Do this Archbishop know he's in San Francisco? Does he know that some like minded people who agree with him think just living there makes you gay. LOL!

As I posted this on my FB page, I wrote, sincerely, "Fuck you, sir."

Cordileone is one of seventeen United States Bishops to sign the Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience, a document asserting opposition to same-sex marriage, abortion and assisted suicide, and to what signers feel is an infringement on their freedom of religion. To date, he is the only Bishop from California to sign the document.
In January 2011, Cordileone was named the chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Ad Hoc Committee for the Defense of Marriage, in which capacity he will be working against the legalization of same-sex marriage.[16] In a June 2012 EWTN News interview, Cordileone stated that a redefinition of marriage to include homosexual couples would be bad for children, detrimental to society and dangerous for religious freedom.[17][18]
On August 26, 2012, Cordileone was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at a police checkpoint in San Diego, California.[19] Officer Mark McCullough, who was at the scene, told The Associated Press, "He was a driver that was obviously impaired but he was quite cordial and polite throughout. He was not a belligerent drunk at all ... There were no problems with him throughout the night."[20][21] He spent the night in custody. In a statement, he apologized and asked forgiveness the next day.[22]

He needs to watch when he involves himself in the politics of a sovereign nation (America).

“Marriage is the only institution that unites a man and a woman to each other and to any child conceived of their union,” Cordileone said. “Our society either preserves laws that respect the fundamental right of children to be raised by their moms and dads together in marriage, or it does not.”

One might even conclude he opposes adoption.

"WHERE DID I SAY SUCH A THING? DON'T PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH! YOU'RE BEING INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST!"

Like most bigots do when one follows the logical consequences of their bigoted speech.

7. This rhetorici is lifted from Francis himself in his role as ant gay crusader in Argentina

he said adoption by gay parents is child abuse. He said we are an attack on God. Francis the Political is nothing new, not a change, he's just the new guy in charge of the legal defense fund for his child abusing peers and the coverup artists who voted him in. Corruption and depravity and decadence surely define such a scandalous institution when rather than seek absolution though penance for great crimes they instead presume to judge others. Unfathomable hubris.

10. Drunk driving priest has no place talking about anyone harming kids

Drunk driving hurts children more than Gay-marriage. Being a bad role model who spews LIES AND HATE hurts kids more than Gay-marriage. Telling kids that if they don't love the right person or they have sinned before god and will burn in hell REALLY hurts kids more than gay-marriage.

Everything this lying PoS says is more harmful to kids than Gay Marriage.

Gay Marriage hurts no one, and only a bigot would lie and claim it hurts children in any way. Gay marriage is not going to magically tear families apart and leave kids without a mom or dad. What it will do is provide a loving home and family to a child whose family has broken up, or who has lost a mom or a dad or both.

17. "its unique meaning lies in our very nature"

Since he is prohibited from marrying, how does he have any claim to an insight into its "unique meaning"? And why does he not see the serious injustice visited on gay children by his extremely anti-gay dogma? I am so tired of angry old men issuing pronouncements such as these from a position of authority. It is spurious and hateful.
