Discussion: Any suggestions for pinned resource threads?Last edited Wed Dec 14, 2011, 02:59 PM - Edit history (2)
I can't pin anything yet, but hopefully that will be remedied soon.
Is there a desire to have any resource threads pinned? I think it could be useful to have a pin for various areas of group interest, with recommended websites. For example: an Energy Healing pin could provide links to various Mudra, Reiki, Chakra Meditation websites, and other forms of energy healing that members find useful and would like to recommend for exploration. Absolutely not necessary to do anything like this, I just thought I would put the question out there and see if people were interested. Lucinda Note: We will be getting hide thread back, and if a pinned thread can be hidden, we could actual have whatever pinned threads we liked, and just hide them individually if we didn't use them, or wanted an uncluttered view of the forum, then unhide to browse the "library: I don't know if it works that way yet, but i have asked about it. Editing to say I am also looking around the forums at larger threads to see if nesting posts might be useful for us for a pinned thread. I am not sure how this software would handle it, but it would keep the pinned threads, minimal. Plus there is the issue of long threads and load time. If any of you saw the "thread that never dies" in the old lounge you know how slow it was.

2. I think it could be a really useful resource.
And I would love it personally. My links are spread out over three different web browsers. It would be wonderful to have a collection to explore all in one place.

3. Please don't get too pin-happy :D --
I hate having to scroll down "past the fold" so to speak to find current topics. At the same time, I was thinking to myself that the monthly discussion threads would be ideal to be pinned.

4. good thought
Last edited Wed Dec 14, 2011, 02:51 PM - Edit history (1) assuming the monthly pins were updated monthly, so we wouldn't end up with a list of 12 of them
![]() What if there was a single pin of 'resources' with each 1st line reply to the OP the type of resource (eg 'energetic healing' 'meditation' 'astrology links' and so on). And then the replies to those topics could be the site titles and their links in the body of the message). So it would end up looking like this: Edited to show indentations for the different levels of topic. hmmmm..... RESOURCES (pinned) ..Astrology .......Starself .......Starcodes .....Astrodienst .......Aquarium Age ..Energetic healing .......Jim's Reiki .......Bob's polarity therapy ..Mayan Calendar / 2012 .......Mayacal (calleman) .......etc. This would prevent a pile up of pinned topics at the top, yet keep things organized so we can find what we want quickly. |

7. Thanks for these! I've been typing around a cat in my face and using an onscreen keyboard
this morning. I wouldn't even attempt formating what you did.

11. Agreed. One pinned link for resources, if it's agreed we even need that.
on edit - each post in a resources thread could contain one link or collection of links with a clearly marked post title. And limit the thread to resource links, not discussion of them.

13. Limiting to links only, or links and a small recommendation by the poster but no discussion,
would definitely cut the clutter.

10. lildreamer ghost thread
Sometimes I just want to read about ghosts, and the latest of her ghost threads includes all the others, so it would be a huge resource.

12. may i suggest
instead of a specific individual's ghost threads, a more generic 'Ghosts' thread with specific links underneath? Otherwise, we could quickly degenerate into mt's favorite astrology sites, mg's favorite wicca sites, ihad's favorite whatever sites, etc.

14. Alternative media sources
such as CMN, etc.
Thing is, CMN itself has a good master list of alt news sources.. Maybe a personal favorites list that we can add to? For example, I always like to refer people to http://www.notimeforkarma.com/ and I know others always have theirs Members pages/websites? (Rick's, etc.) ... OH! Somewhere lost in the archives is an Inspirational Music Thread. We need to restart that sometime. |

15. Every week or month or cross quarter or
planetary change I love seeing the different astrological takes on what's happening.
I used to love Heather Roan Robbins, but she seems to have changed her path and no longer has a website. But, of course, Cafe Astrology, Lauren Gorgo, Rick, etc; you know, everyone in the astro wave. Maybe a really good alternative health site; not Andrew Weil types. Okay, that's all I've got. |

17. The Resource pin is now up and ready for any of those you want to add. I'm not sure
if a Alt Health section added to the pinned thread yet, but feel free.
