Female Episcopal Bishop of Indianapolis meets Pope Francis
Episcopal Bishop of Indianapolis Right Rev. Catherine M. Waynick attended a Papal Audience at the Vatican with Pope Francis.
She had this to say about her encounter with Francis;
Bishop Cate said, "We were all presented to His Holiness, and I introduced myself, telling him my name and that I am Bishop of Indianapolis, and that I bring him greetings from our members and from Archbishop Joseph Tobin.
He responded by saying, 'Please tell your people, pray for me, and tell Tobin, Greetings!.'
We agreed to pray for each other, he gave me a small box with a medallion in it, and that was that! His face showed no surprise or astonishment to be presented with a bishop who is a woman. He was kind and graciousas we have all come to expect and know him to be. His message that day dealt with the vocation all Christians have, by virtue of our baptisms, to live the vocation of striving for holiness by loving and serving others. A message we can all embrace!"
I am now awaiting the right wing freak-out from both right wing Catholics and right wing Episcopalians and/or ACNA folks.
