(41,995 posts)I was just reading about this. It's frightening as well.
Behind the Aegis
(53,962 posts)People mocking those who are actually concerned, blaming Israel, and the list goes on. What I find "amusing" are those that think an act against Jews would suddenly get the US or NATO to start marching in on the region.

(41,995 posts)But this is an example of the reality and pervasiveness of anti-semitism.
Behind the Aegis
(53,962 posts)It demonstrates a nasty attitude, itself anti-Semitic IMO, in ignoring the problems of anti-Semitism. I see it in regards to racism, sexism, and homophobia, but the big difference is when it occurs in a liberal setting it is usually confronted, loudly and forcefully. Anti-Semitism is so much more than calling a Jew a "kike" or "Heeb" or claiming we all "run the (insert nation) government". It is amazing how many people aren't aware of some of the most basic anti-Semitic claims.

But neither side is exactly known for loving my tribe. Both are just using Jewish people (and the Shoa) as tools.
Make aliyah now, folks. I'm an old fart and may do it myself.

(29,047 posts)I don't like everything Israel does, and I'm not the biggest fan of large-scale tribalism, but Israel is currently the best "fail safe" for Jews who have the means to go there.
