(Jewish Group) Yad Vashem Tweets Link To Ocasio-Cortez To 'Learn About Concentration Camps'

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust museum, had a response to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez referring to migrant detention centers as “concentration camps.”

“The U.S. is running concentration camps on our southern border, and that is exactly what they are,” the freshman New York Democrat had said Monday night in an Instagram Live video. “If that doesn’t bother you … I want to talk to the people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that ‘never again’ means something.”

She tweeted the same message on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Yad Vashem responded in a tweet that included a link to its web page about Nazi labor and concentration camp.

...surely they're not saying that as long as Trump's internment facilities are less bad than the Nazi camps at their worst, they're not anything to get upset about. I wouldn't know for sure, but I suspect at their inception, the Nazi work camps probably didn't look nearly as bad as they would later become.

Dislike for the use of the term in this situation is not implicit acceptance of the current situation. But, I am sure you knew that.

And, with due respect, this is the Jewish Group.

But it did brutally and lethally enforce a system meant to work its victims to death. Jews and others were overworked, underfed, denied proper medical care, denied properly sanitary conditions, and severely punished or killed is they objected or resisted in any way.

Really the only difference from the outset to the late stages was the pace of killings, which led to the gas chambers and outright extermination camps, where they skipped the "work to" part and went straight to the "death" part.

But it was a horrific genocide from the outset.

As for Yar vashem, I don't think they commenting on aoc or the use of the term. They're just taking the opportunity to remind and educate people about the holocaust.

The constant "THIS IS JUST LIKE NAZI GERMANY/HITLER!!!!!!!!!!!" since Bush/Cheney has been offensive and incorrect and pretty much bullshit hyperbole.

Are you able to call someone a fascist online, not end up in a gulag, and live to tell about it? You aren't living under fascism.

I was hoping that someone, Senator Schumer for example, would suggest that AOC visits a Holocaust museum to learn about concentration camps. Perhaps even meet with a Holocaust survivor - there are still some around.

The terms Holocaust, Concentration Camp, even Hitler should not be used for any other purposes except for the original message.

1. No one clamoref INTO Germany to get into a concentration camp.

2. AOC is so biased and full of hate she probably will dismiss Yad as a Zionist conspiracy.

I am trying to hold the fort but yes, the term "concentration camp" has been around for many years, in the past 75 years it was used to describe Nazi camps and a most recent and heavily recommended post does use images from them.

And I used the opposite of your comment: that the children in the border camps can at least, be claimed by adults from Mexico or other countries. The children in the Nazi camps had only one way exit.

But the, not that much surprising, right?
