Icarus Interstellar announces their first Starship Congress

The First General Assembly of Starship Congress is scheduled for August 15-18 in Dallas, TX. The Icarus Interstellar announcement is as follows:

This year Icarus Interstellar will be holding our first ever Starship Congress, a meeting of leaders in the field of space exploration and interstellar flight. There we seek to bring together a broad cross-section of the interstellar community to foster discussion and inspire tangible action.

Our ambition is to help move humanity towards becoming an interstellar civilization, with a broad campaign of exploration to begin as soon as is credibly feasible. Starship Congress seeks to renew a shared curiosity for the many possible paths towards an interstellar future. None of this can happen without a broad coalition, and a wide range of stakeholders, each empowered to do what they do best. Though all of us are distinct, if we can support each others’ aims while moving towards common ground, our effort can be greater than the sum of our parts.

Participating organizations include:
  • The Tau Zero Foundation,
  • The Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop,
  • The Global Starship Alliance,
  • Star Voyager,
  • The Institute for Interstellar Studies,
  • Icarus Interstellar

I wish I'd known about this earlier, so I could have planned to spend a day or two at the conference.
