To see a green flash, you must be looking just at sunset, at the last moment before the sun disappears below the horizon. A sea horizon is best.

(81,514 posts)Amazing! I thought it was a myth. I had a friend once who said she'd seen it, too, and she believed it was a signal of personal enlightenment - that those who couldn't see it had bad karma of some sort that prevented them from seeing it.

(1,266 posts)I saw it for the first time this winter as the sun set over a distant mountain range in southern Arizona. I was descending a peak east of Tucson and saw the green light for just about a half second.
