New NASA Map Details 2023 and 2024 Solar Eclipses in the US

Where will you be for the 2023 and 2024 solar eclipses in the United States?

NASA has released a new map that could help you decide.

Based on observations from several NASA missions, the map details the path of the Moon’s shadow as it crosses the contiguous U.S. during the annular solar eclipse on October 14, 2023, and total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

A map shows the 48 contiguous U.S. states with two dark bands running across it. One band, labeled "2023 Annular Solar Eclipse," crosses states from Oregon to Texas. The other band, labeled "2024 Total Solar Eclipse," crosses states from Texas to Maine.

Using observations from different NASA missions, this map shows where the Moon’s shadow will cross the U.S. during the 2023 annular solar eclipse and 2024 total solar eclipse. The map was developed by NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio (SVS) in collaboration with the NASA Heliophysics Activation Team (NASA HEAT), part of NASA’s Science Activation portfolio.

The Good Lord willing (and the creek don't rise). I won't have to drive as far to see the next one.

Kind of disappointing.
It's not like I've made it a priority, but I'd would have probably traveled somewhat if I could have.

But I do enjoy watching the "pinhole" effect in the warm weather ones as the tree leaves intersecting help to cast the various crescenty shapes during partial eclipses.

Oh kayyy the last total eclipse for the NYC area was 1925.
Chicago hasn't seen one in over 100 yrs. We're getting close that.
