I read and hear all the time that when something bad happens people will say "god doesn't give me more than I can handle" or that "god is testing me" or other piles of BS to explain away their personal suffering.
I would want a god who says "Hey, I may be god, but you are living life and sometimes life just sucks. It's fucking life. I've got more important things to do in my day than to come down to an overpopulated planet of over 6 billion people, pick you out and torture the fuck out of you. I sure as hell don't do it because I want you to fucking love me more. Are you demented or something? I'm busy. I'm god for fuck's sake. I'm responsible for 15 billion other galaxies and universes. I've got trillions upon trillions of life forms that need my attention from time to time. Hell, just trying to keep you morons from fucking up the planet even more is a full time job. Hey, I may be god, but even I have limits.
So this is what I want you to do. Take care of the planet you're on, be good to each other, and quit trying to fucking please me so damn much. I don't give a shit about how much inside of a church you see. I sent Jesus to tell you how it is and no where did he say build fucking mega churches. Do what Jesus says and all is good. I'll be back in a few thousand years and see how you're doing."
If god existed, that's the one I'd like.

(18,219 posts)whether the believers want to accept it or not. Their god does not care about their day-to-day lives. He doesn't care how devout you are---you will still be made to suffer just as much as the nonbelievers. He doesn't give preferential treatment to the mega-churches. Life goes on, everyone suffers, everyone has good days and bad days, everyone hurts sometimes and feels good sometimes. Atheists and the devout are in the same boat. Wonder why.

(6,498 posts)I mean, it's not like we've done much to get his attention.
We haven't built any wormhole subways or stuff like that that might get us noticed.
And if you think about it, that could be a good thing.
