people. These people have to be atheists in order to use religion in such a mass-control (political) way.

These are elements...

But my natural cynicism tells me it has more to do with breaking down the ACA than anything religious....with "the Alito 5" that is and the non Teabagger GOP (and even Teabagger leaders). They know what they are doing.

I'll believe it's really religious when Hobby Lobby stops buying things from China.

If we can't have atheists/agnostics on the Court and we can't kick the asses of the current crop of the Opus Dei club off the bench, I think we should appeal for an exorcism. Driving out those demons now has official approval and we surely have plenty of evidence of demonic possession! I think they should start with Scalia and Thomas, the most obvious cases.

Who knew there was an "International Association of Exorcists", anyway? Will an exorcism be covered in my health plan if I really, REALLY believe that demons are making me sick? I'll bet Scalia would vote a big YES!

Vatican gives official backing to exorcists
Head of International Association of Exorcists says Vatican approval is cause for joy for those who suffer demons
Associated Press in Vatican City
The Guardian, Wednesday 2 July 2014

Exorcists now have an extra weapon in their fight against evil – the official backing of the Catholic church. The Vatican has formally recognised the International Association of Exorcists, a group of 250 priests in 30 countries who liberate the faithful from demons.

The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano reported this week that the Vatican's Congregation for Clergy had approved the organisation's statutes and recognised the group under canon law.

More than his predecessors, Pope Francis speaks frequently about the devil, and last year was seen placing his hands on the head of a man supposedly possessed by four demons in what exorcists said was a prayer of liberation from Satan.

The head of the association, the Rev Francesco Bamonte, said the Vatican approval was cause for joy. "Exorcism is a form of charity that benefits those who suffer," he told L'Osservatore.

Look at Great Britain. Atheism has really taken hold there. Just because America has been a really backward country where religion is concerned is no reason it cannot take root here. Science isn't going to just up and quit.

Atheism almost broke through in America in the 19th Century when Robert Ingersoll toured the country and spoke to huge audiences. Not sure exactly why it died out, but it could certainly happen again.

What makes the U.S. so damned puritanical, religion-wise, compared to many countries in Europe?
