(9,356 posts)After catching up with our "New Rules" pinned post. Which had the excellent idea of a weekly non-personal summary of what DU believers are saying about us.
I think that project is a great idea, and even thought I might want to be involved.
Then I skimmed thru the first ten or so threads in The Other Group. And I learned...
--If people around you are being killed and you survive, it's perfectly OK to believe Gawd Itself reached down and spared you. In fact, such a belief makes you a much better person than those unbelieving poopyheads who focus on, like, all the dead people and can't spare any time for an obvious MIRACLE!1!
--Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao, lions & tigers & bears oh my...
--exorcism is just one more miraculous Other Way of Knowing or something
--somebody named Rising Asswad or something is the Koolest Kid on the block right now because he's a good liberal Muslim. And most Muslims are just like him, really!
--No need to lose our heads over radical Islam. It's pretty much like Xianity, only followed by a few Fundamentalist Assholes. And they will soon be overcome by the massive surge of liberal Muslims. Just like what happened in the USA! Fundies have almost no power and no politicians take them seriously any more.
So no. Sorry. I can't be involved in anything that would require me to read thru that sort of stuff for hours every week. My own grasp on reality is tenuous enough as it is.

Rude, insulting, religious bashers for asking about the logical consequences of statements of faith.
But of course these logical questions are never addressed.

(49,533 posts)Can't answer the question? Strikes a little too close to home? Accuse the question-asker of being a horrible religious bigot who thinks all believers are mentally ill! Ta da, you don't have to answer the question!

Imagine what those closed doors meetings at the Vatican are like!
Or a seminar at a theologin convention.
(One's just the same only in Italian, the other is just the same)
It's good to know what the current zeitgeist is over there because...well, I couldn't make up such crap!....from out of nowhere sometimes!
Amazing.
