Wow! Religious privilege runs strong in GD.

All you have to do is question the effectiveness of a public official publicly praying and you'll get your thread locked. As usual us non-believers are told essentially "you have your own forum (which is still under "Religion & spirituality&quot STFU and know your place".

Now, once again-- I have no problem with anything anyone does in this group; I even agree with you guys most of the time. I do have a problem with some of the things done in other groups.

As far as scurrilous attacks on individuals here, or even on ideas proposed, I'm not aware of that being a big problem. If it is, you might alert or contact the hosts about specific problems. We don't actually like insults over there, even if it's our own people starting it.

I do have a problem with some of the things done in other groups.

I respect your group, I don't follow anyone in there, I don't alert and I don't troll.

Really? Because when one of Interfaith's regulars made this comment, not only did none of the hosts seem to have a problem with it, one of them was there yukking it up right along with him. Another regular agreed, and the same host found that agreement funny, too.

Until you're as concerned with the tone in your own safe haven as you seem to be with the tone in this one, you should really think twice about wagging your finger at anyone here.

Edit: And in case you've forgotten, another regular signed off one of his posts to an atheist with, "In conclusion, fuck you, you fucking fucker," which did get hidden, but it got turned around on the person to whom the response was directed and he was blamed because apparently his mere presence was "baiting." The comment was even defended elsewhere and continued to be blamed on the person at whom it was directed. If you come out of this thread remembering nothing else, remember that.

If starting prayers in a general discussion forum isn't aggressively promoting their religion, than what is?

Plus it's a huge strawman, equating an atheist saying "Hey I'm here, and what you're doing actually offends people" to pretty much anything a church does, as they can't breathe without thanking god that he made it possible.

in other words, check your privilege.

"non-practicing atheist" is somewhere between oxymoron and nonsensical, but it smells the same as when someone starts with talking about their "atheist friends."
